Landscape irrigation systems are intended for two purposes. First, they automate the watering process, sparing you the headache of having to wash off your lawns during periods of low rainfall. Micro-irrigation, sometimes called localized irrigation, low volume irrigation, or Drip Irrigation is a system where water is distributed under low pressure through a piped network, in a pre-determined pattern, and applied as a small discharge to each plant or adjacent to it. This method can be the most water-efficient method of irrigation if managed properly, evaporation and runoff are minimized. The field water efficiency of drip irrigation is typically in the range of 80 to 90 percent when managed correctly.

The big hose-reel irrigation machines nourish a world market growing every day thanks to the reached standards of efficiency and versatility. The different models, differing in diameter from 63mm to 150mm, uses today a PET hose remarkably modified inelastic characteristics, resistance to traction, granting also bigger flow rates. All this make them better usable on any kind of soil.

Sprinkler or overhead irrigation, water is piped to one or more central locations within the field and distributed by overhead high-pressure sprinklers or guns. The sprinkler is mounted on a pipe riser, allowing it to work above the crop being planted (in orchards, the riser may be short so that these types of sprinklers operate under the tree canopy).
